Ian Manton is a member of the Certified Practicing Accountants of Australia and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Until recently, he was a Committee member of the Ballarat and Western Victorian Chapter of the Australian Industry Group.
Ian has worked in various accounting roles with both Australian and USA public and private companies. He was appointed as Managing Director of the Asia Pacific operations of a USA manufacturing company in 1986 and held this position for a number of years.
In 1993 Ian headed a local group of managers for the purpose of acquiring the Australian subsidiary of the USA company. The acquisition was consummated that year. He held the position of Managing Director with this company until his retirement in 2009.
Ian and his family have owned a property in Skenes Creek for 17 years. After his wife was injured, as the result of a fall, and the subsequent caring treatment she received at the Apollo Bay Hospital, he decided he would like to contribute to the improvement of health care and its facilities within Apollo Bay and its surrounding district. Consequently, he decided to nominate for election to the Board of Trustees of the Apollo Bay & District Health Foundation. He was elected in 2010.
