The Marathon's Healthy Community Connections

The Apollo Bay & District Health Foundation is pleased and proud to announce that as a result of the fantastic fundraising efforts of the runners, the generosity of our major sponsors and other supporters, the enthusiastic volunteering by local groups and the fabulous support of our community, we managed to raise more than $37,500 through the Great Ocean Road Marathon to distribute back into our community, as follows:

Apollo Bay P-12 College

Apollo Bay Preschool

Apollo Bay Sailing Club

Wye River CFA

Wye River Surf Lifesaving Club

Kennett River Progress Assoc.

Apollo Bay Community Website Inc.

These organisations were very excited about the amounts being granted to them.B Upon being advised that Apollo Bay P-12 College will be receiving a grant of $16,500 the Principal, Tiffany Holt said bTo be receiving this amount is just unique and extraordinary.B A very big thank you to the Apollo Bay & District Health Foundation for making this possible for our school!b

Health Foundation Chairman, Andrew (Buck) Buchanan said bWe are absolutely delighted with this result and hope that not only will it benefit the programs of our local not-for-profit organisations, but also increase the capacity of our community to work together towards shared goals.B Of course, none of this would have been possible without the generosity of our major sponsors, Bendigo Bank and the Apollo Bay News Sheet, and the support of SLM Law and Community Care Chemistb.

The Health Foundation is looking forward to working with you again at next yearbs Marathon for the benefit of our local communities along the Great Ocean Road.
